YOUR DOLLAR MAKES A DIFFERENCE BY DONATING TO THE MARYLAND BRAIN INJURY TRUST FUND
Brain injury affects who we are and the way we think, act, and feel. It can change everything about us in a matter of seconds. Major causes of brain injury are falls, motor vehicle accidents, assaults, sports and recreation injuries, and drug overdoses.
605,218. That’s the estimated number of Marylanders affected by brain injury in 2017.
That’s enough people to completely fill M&T Bank Stadium, Camden Yards, and FedEx Field THREE TIMES OVER.
And its not just the individuals living with brain injuries.
Its also 605,218 families also wrestling with the day-to-day challenges presented by living with, caring for, and loving an individual with a brain injury.
Living with a brain injury can require a range of resources, strategies, and supports, the range of which can be overwhelming and expensive. Support needs may extend long after someone leaves the hospital. For families with little or no insurance, the emotional and financial issues can be devastating.
In 2012, the State of Maryland established The Maryland Brain Injury Trust Fund to provide hope and assistance to those with nowhere else to turn. Those in need may request assistance with managing their care, special tests or treatments to promote their recovery, medical services and equipment to promote their independence, and community reentry and transition services.
Every dollar can help change a life.
You can help make a difference by donating one dollar to the Maryland Brain Injury Trust Fund when you renew your registration at any kiosk location or online.
