Frequently Asked Questions
The following are a list of frequently asked questions about our event:
Q- When and where should I pick up my race packet?
A- Packets can be picked up on Saturday, October 12th at Charm City Run Columbia, 7090 Deepage Drive, Columbia, MD 21045 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The other option is to wait until Race Day (October 13th) and pick your packet up UMBC at the Registration Tables between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM.
Q- What is available at packet pick up?
A- You will receive your race bib, safety pins, and race t-shirts. Premier Runners will also receive the new Scarecrow Socks and Scarecrow Running hat.
Q- Can I pick up packets for family members or friends who are also registered for the event?
A- Yes, you can pick up packets for family members or friends who are also registered for the event. Please make sure that they are aware that you are doing so.
Q- Where should I park on race day?
A-Complimentary Garage Parking is available in the Commons Drive Garage (at the intersection of Commons Drive and Park Road and about 4:00 when looking at the campus map.).
Once you enter campus, turn on to Hilltop Circle and follow the UMBC campus signs directing you to the Commons Drive Garage.
On October 13th, there will be volunteer flag persons on Commons Drive to direct you to the parking garage.
Mobility Challenged runners or walkers or walkers may be dropped off in the Commons Loop before returning to the Parking Garage. There is currently construction around the drop-off point, but you will be able to bring your car up close and then back up and exit towards the parking garage.
Those with Handicapped Stickers may park in the Designated Handicapped Parking Spots in the Garage.
If you can't find a spot in the Garage, you will be directed to available lot parking in the faculty lot across the street from the garage.
Please be sure to arrive well BEFORE 8:30am when the road will be closed to make way for the runners. For the safety of the runners, walkers, and volunteers NO VEHICLES will be allowed to enter OR exit the garage at those times.
Q- I'm a volunteer. What time do I need to be there? Where do I go?
A- You will need to check your volunteer time that you signed up for. Early volunteers (parking, registration, food prep, setup) are needed around 6:45am. Otherwise you need to report no later than 15 minutes before your shift begins.
All volunteers need to report to the Volunteer Table at the bottom of the stairs as you walk in to the Commons Building to receive your name badge, any equipment, and instructions.
Q- Will there be places for teams to gather before and after the race?
A- Yes. Inside the Commons (The University Student Union) there are large lounge and dining areas with sofas, chairs, tables and benches. Lots of places to hang out both before the race and after.
Q – Will there be a warmup?
A - Yes. Pivot will be providing our warmup between 8:30am and 8:45am right outside the Commons Building on the way to the Start of the Race.
Q- What time does the race start and where?
A- The 5K Run will start promptly at 9 AM and the 1 Mile Walk will begin at 9:10 AM. The start line for both the run and walk will be at the intersection of Popular Road and Center Road.

A- Sort of. The Runners will begin at 9AM with the Walkers beginning approximately 10 minutes later. The courses parallel each other with runners using the street while the walkers will be using the sidewalks.
Q- Can baby joggers or strollers be used in the event?

A- The University of Maryland Baltimore County Police Department will provide police support for the race.
Q- Will there be bathrooms available for participants to use?

We will have door prizes to distribute as well. Please linger and enjoy our complimentary food and the company of your fellow runners while you wait.
